5-paragraph Essays

Today I introduced the dreaded 5-paragraph essay.  The students had to write a letter home to their parents telling them what we did this week.  Please look at their letters and write them back!!!  I've attached the "Prewrite Planner" to help outline what the 5-paragraph essay should consist of.  We will be doing this every Friday, so take a look at their starting essays and we will see how they progress over these next few months!  I can't wait to see their improvement!

One thing to note about the essay planner is that instead of the "conclusion" at the end of each paragraph for each column, we changed that to transition sentence.  They need to complete a transition sentence from paragraph to paragraph!

Paragraph 2
Day one of ISTEP was very challenging because...

Then the students had to finish!

The essay was worth 50 points!  Take a look at their essays and respond to them!  Have the students bring them back in on Monday!
