Buckley Homestead Field Trip
We just go back from Buckley Homestead and what a great trip! The kids had so much fun and learned so much! I will be posting pictures later tonight of all ou adventures! Please ask your child what their favorite part was today! They all did an amazing job!
Final Project: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
Here is the link for our final project after reading, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe! Instead of something traditional, I decided to go a more modern route with allowing the students to be creative in their interpretation of the novel! Here is a link to the overview and rubric of the assignment! There are several choices for them to choose from, so they shouldn't have a problem with creating something GREAT! This project will be due the week of April 16th!

Student Treasures Form
Parents I NEED all of the student treasure forms back even if you are NOT purchasing a copy of the book. If I submit each student's work for the class book, the publisher needs parental permission for their child's name and work to be published! I've attached a copy just in case you did not receive it!

Poet Tree
Check out our Poet Tree! A few students and I have created our Poet Tree adapted from a poetry lesson that I used during my student teaching last year! I LOVE how well it has come out! We still have a little more work to do on it, but here are a few pictures of our progress! The leaves are poetry terms that we have talked about the past two days and the owl is the poet owl! We will be doing something with him very soon!
Class Bank and Class Store
I started implementing a debit and credit system in class so that students can really start to take ownership of their work. My ideas come from the scholastic website and I've modified it to fit our classroom. Each week, students will receive a paycheck. They then will go to the bank to cash it. Students can either save their money or make purchases in our class store. We decided on "Bulldog Bank" for our classroom bank and "T-ball Mall" for our classroom store. I purchased quite a few items from the dollar store and oriental trading. We have a couple parents donate items, so we have quite a few things for the kids to purchase with their money. We were able to shop 2 times before break! Take a look at what some of the kids purchased!
Welcome Back from Spring Break!
Ok, I have to admit that the time definitely got away from me this past week during spring break! I did not update anything! So, I'm going to try and catch up so that all of you can see what we have been up to these past few weeks!
I hope you all had a great spring break and are ready to get back to work! Can you believe that we have less than 2 months of school left? I can't and I know that we have a lot of work to do!
We started our unit on poetry yesterday and completed a little activity that outlined some poetry terms including similies, metaphors, and rhymes! I will be posting student work as we complete it!
Contact me with questions and check out the postings above for some things we are doing!
